The 101: NFT? BNB? Pentas.io?
Hello peeps!
(Disclaimer: I'm not an expert in this field, I am just interested in this topic, and I just wanted to help share to all the people, especially creators, to get interested in this NFT.)
So...
At last, the long wait for this topic is here!
We all know and understand why you're here.
First and foremost, please brace yourself as this gonna be a long read! (Get your snacks ready.)
Now, let's understand what's with this NFT. Everyone knows it stands for Non-Fungible Token, but seriously, what's the definition?
Like please explain more?
Make it clearer?
More depth?
Wow, you're guys really are consistent about this ah.
Well.. okay, firstly, NFTs is anything or everything digital (such as drawings or music album cover, seriously it can really be anything digital), it is something unique and can't be replaced with something else. It acts as a digital certificate of authenticity, and it stores the owner, transfer and sales of the NFT artwork. All of this infos are registered permanently on the blockchain. (Which is soo helpful for creators!)
When a collector buys NFT art. It gives them a certificate of authentication that proves the authenticity and ownership of the artwork AND royalties for creators. I think that's a win-win thing right there! No matter how many times the artwork has been sold, creators will always earn the royalties. (Head highs creators, we see you!)
But ..okaylah, I know most of you guys will think like, "But I can just save the artwork by right-clicking my mouse lor. No need to spend so much money on digital things."
Actually, you're not wrong, KArEn, but NFTs are created to be something that you can't replace. Plus, imagine the flex of owning an original Nyan cat. Everyone uses the copy, but only one person can own the original.
More or less, it's similar to when an artist creates a commission for client's birthday card artwork, and then the client sends it to others. There may be hundreds of numbered copies of the same artwork, but only one person had the actual original version.
Ah..Fahimtum? Yes!
Just act like you understand that part.
Now moving on,
How to kick start on Pentas.io 101
Wait, some of you might ask whats Pentas.io?
Ah boy! Do your homework before reading my latest post laa.
Well what I mean is, Pentas.io is actually a Malaysian marketplace for NFTs. They strive to empower asian culture and heritage through digital art (which is lit af!)
Pentas beratkan tradisi dan khazanah,
Pamerkan seni digital yang belum pernah.
(Ps: You're GOAT if you know the reference.)

Right! Now you know.
Soo, first off:
You will need to install Metamask wallet! How?
- You need to install the Metamask app from Google web store (click add to chrome).
- Create a wallet > click agree if you agreed, and no thanks if you're dogged about it > create password > get and safe the secret word > confirm your secret backup phase (rearrange the words accordingly)> All done!
- Since the Metamask automatically shows ETH current, you will need to change it to BNB on Pentas.io later.
- So click the settings > networks > add network > and copy paste below
Network Name: Smart Chain
New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
ChainID: 56
Symbol: BNB
Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com/
And hopefully, you'll get the BNB currency after that. Cause if you get it, it means you're doing the right thing!
I'm soo proud of you!
Now let's continue!
How to buy BNB 101
Oh boy, this is my least favourite, because as a beginner, I found this topic a bit hard to understand. Luckily I managed to find guidance from a few friends on Twitter. (Copy Cat Crew and Erynn A, thanks a lot, guys!)
Anywho, let's get started!
1. Access the Binance website.
2. Set up an account and get verified on Binance. I verified using the web since its mobile app has been banned in Malaysia. ( It takes me 24 hours to be verified)
3. Click Trade and choose the P2P option.
4. Choose the BUY option and click BNB.
5. Next, click the Fiat option and choose LOCAL (Local=Ringgit, and yes, this only works in Malaysia)
6. You'll find a few options, choose whichever suits your budget and click buy (instant transfer).
But in my opinion, just pay RM50, and above, the RM30 amount might be too low for your BNB balance since later on, you will need to pay a small number of fees to proceed on Metamask and pentas.io.
7. Next, you will get directed to Buy BNB page. DO NOT CLICK TRANSFERRED before you transfer to the seller. Proceed only after you pay the seller the amount.
8. Please wait about 15 minutes or less, depends on the seller.
9. After your order is completed, click Transfer to Spot.
10. You'll see your BNB amount/balance on Funding.
11. Click Fiat and Spot, and click the withdraw > crypto > select BNB coin > insert your Metamask Address from your Metamask wallet.
12. For Network, click BSC (Binance Smart Chain).
Good job, guys, now you're done! Hopefully, you're already transferred the amount into your Metamask wallet!
