Now, now now,

The first and most important question is, Who are you?

Hi, I'm Uzair. I'm an illustrator and concept artist for a local animation studio in Malaysia. I do illustration for a living. Although I'm not doing any painting for my official job, I love painting, sketching, or doodling for fun.

Personally speaking, doing illustration under someone else direction is exciting and sometimes considerable. Still, it can also be really stressful because you're trying to visualize someone else's vision. Meanwhile, doing a personal painting is like therapy for me because I love painting. It is my passion. The best thing about it is I can draw whatever stuff I want.

What's the story behind Kepala Baby (KB)?

Kepala Baby or 'KB' is my experimental project. Before starting this project, I loved creating character designs and making my own renditions of existing pop culture characters. Before ‘Kepala Baby,’ my initial plan was actually ‘Kepala Kotak Kau! "(Creative bro! 😂) Where I will design a character inspired by people familiar to everyone, with a box head shape. But during the process, coincidently I found out a few people were already launching almost a similar idea to mine. That’s when I decided to explore other head shapes. Kepala Baby are inspired by collectible vinyl figures such as Bearbrick and Pop Funko, most known for their fixed shapes, which are unique to each.

Right, now let's see the WIP for Kepala Baby.

Is it possible for you to describe the procedure? 

Yes, sure, the first step is 

i. I will always start with compiling mood boards/references. After that, I'll begin with a rough sketch of the character.

ii. Refine the sketch with fine line art. Fill in the color, and it's now almost finished.

iv. The last step is to add frame by frame to the head, making a 360 rotating loop.

Wow, this is definitely described as neatly organized. 

I'm amazed. Such an awesome work!

To date, how did you find the Pentas.io experience?

For someone who is completely new to this NFT thing, I think Pentas.io is the most user-friendly NFT marketplace I have ever used. I think it has potential, and I believe they are still improving over time.
